I am not an icon designer, but I have followed IF grow since around 2010-2011. There used to be articles about the technical side of IF. I understand not wanting to divulge too much in order to keep an eye on security, but the blog (when it was still running on Wordpress) used to give technical updates.
I work for a third party logistics company that was founded around 1999. I being younger, was around for the rise of platforms that make building web apps easier. You had companies like us who had web apps built on these old systems / old ways of doing things - newer companies were able to pull ahead because they were founded at a time there were technological advancements that made it possible to build more sophisticated web apps. Which is why I always loved following IF.
You used to talk a lot about DJANGO and Postgres. I'm not sure if the site moved away. The site has definitely gotten cleaner and cleaner looking over the years.
We got acquired and I am moving into a more senior systems engineer role and shedding my DBA duties, but watching IF talk about Postgres and designing a relational database structure and things like that when I was starting out in my field was really nice. At this point I am just invested in the success of IF. This was the first company I saw actually building things properly so they could scale based on something like DJANGO and Python.
The company that acquired us has the right idea and resources, but I am still pulling things out of Access databases and rewriting them in T-SQL in 2021..
Bring back the technical news of IF please.
