Tags went missing from published icons

I don't know if you guys are already aware of this issue or not, but I just realized that some tags that I previously added to my icons are no longer there. I always keep the number of tags between 5-7 tags per icon, and keep it relevant. For example, many icons in "this set" that previously had 5-7 tags only have 1-2 tags now. Obviously, I clearly remember that I never remove the tags myself. It would be troblesome if this happened to other sets as well. Can you please take a look at this?

frey_wazza Thank you for writing about this. It looks very odd indeed.

I have looked at the set you mentioned and I see a lot of icons with 5-6 tags, but also some with only 1 tag.

These have 5-6 tags.

But it is true that towards the end of the icon set there are icons with only 1 tag:

If you didn't upload these yourself with only 1 tag, then it might be a bug. 🙈
I will ask my colleagues from development to keep an eye in case they spot anything weird around tagging.

Some questions:

Can you see if the sets were uploaded around the same dates?
Can you give some more examples of your sets with this problem?
Did all the icons have more than 1 tag when you uploaded them? I am trying to understand if this happened from the start or if the tags disappeared at some other point in time.

Is anybody else experiencing this? 🤔

Icons that belong to the same set were uploaded at the same time, but different sets were uploaded at a different time, most sets are around a month apart.
I checked some other sets and it looks good, but I can't check all of it, too much work 😅
I named the svg files with the corresponding tags (like : tag1, tag2, tag3, tag4, tag5.svg), so the tags were automatically added by the system, and I added some tags manually at the upload stage. I checked the icons after it got accepted and all looks just fine.

Btw I just re-added the tags to the icons above, I just hope it won't dissapear again, cheers.

We looked into the tag logs for one of the icons in the set (the house icon tagged only with "Property") and here's what we see:

There were more tags for that icon, but they were deleted when the tag "property" was added 3 days later.

One of our developers tried to trigger this same error, but without success. His guess is that it could be caused by some external thing (like the browser) that deleted all the other tags when you added one. 😟

We're not sure right now, but we'd like to hear if this happens again. 🙏

Thanks for looking into this Monica, I've re-added the tags and it looks good right now.
Btw, when those icons only had 1-2 icons, isn't it supposed to appear in the "Tag Issues" page? In this case it didn't appear there, so I couldn't easily fix the tags from there.

I saw you deleted that set. Did it not work out in the end? Something is wrong and we almost surely have a bug happening when editing tags 😱 ... The team is investigating. 🔎

About the Tag issues tab in Sales Analytics, that list should show all sets that contain any icons with 1 tag or more than 7 tags, so this specific set is there. The list has a limit of rows, so it doesn't show all icons because then it would become too long. When you fix the issue, the row should disappear from the table and new rows will show up. I hope this makes sense.

Let me write later, when we know more about this bug.

Monica-from-Iconfinder Yes I deleted the set and re-uploaded it right away just to make sure that all icons got properly tagged, it's just easier for me to reupload it rather than checking it one by one as I could probably missed some.

Monica-from-Iconfinder About the Tag Issues page, no icons were shown there when those icons only had 1-2 tags, so it's pretty time consuming for me to fix the missing tags as I should checked it one by one manually, that's the reason why I wrote about this.

Hi all

We'll be fixing this issue today - it seems like it's affecting a lot of designers. Luckily we keep all tag data - including the ones that are deleted, so we can revert the recent changes. Hopefully we can restore the data.

An update on this issue that both of you reported recently. We found the bug that was causing tags to be deleted from some icons and fixed that. This means that it should not happen again that icons lose their tags in this way. ✅

The second part is to find all the icons whose tags were accidentally deleted and restore the tags. This is not done yet, but we are working on it this week.

We'll be back with more updates later.

A little update here. We now have a list with all the icons which are missing tags and we are going through it and recovering these tags. It should be ready this week. You don't need to do anything about it. 😊
