I’m excited to announce that the explicit label feature is now live, which means that all existing content has already been reviewed and labeled explicit where necessary, and that newly published icons will now be reviewed for their need of the label as well.
The explicit label is intended for icons of adult nature (things like nudity, sex toys, graphic violence, etc.) that may not be suitable for underage and workplace viewing. As a result, users now have the ability to conduct a “safe search”, which will prevent explicit icons from appearing in their results.
Feel free to give it a whirl yourself by selecting the option in your settings (top right corner), and then searching for potentially explicit content. Toggle the setting on and off to see a difference in the results. Note that the new search (beta) must also be enabled at this time for this feature to work.
While we love having a diverse collection of icons that touch on topics and issues of all kind, with that comes the responsibility of giving users the option to search within their personal comfort level, and allow for parental controls for younger users. We hope you agree, but would love to hear any feedback you have about this new feature below.
As a quick refresher, this is one of many content-care initiatives we’ve been working on in 2020 to help ensure access to the best and most reliable icons out there 🥳
